The Wood Badge is a common standard that identifies the levels of training and development required by Adults in Scouting to perform certain roles. This includes the basic levels expected and also those at a more advanced level which leads to the attainment of the Wood Badge. It is an indicator of high-level training competencies, quality training systems, and individual opportunities for development in NSO/NSA. It provides development opportunities for adults to acquire and/or further develop competencies to better perform in different roles/ positions in Scouting, and also in other aspects of their lives. The Wood Badge Framework contributes to offer “Better Scouting for more young people” through the permanent improvement of quality training and development for adults involved in the Movement, and by strengthening their sense of unity. The reviewed Wood Badge Framework supports common understanding about the main global principles of Adults in Scouting and provides a framework for the training, development, and recognition of all adults regardless of their role or appointment. Additionally, it encourages NSOs/NSAs to equip Adults in Scouting with the needed and essential competencies for quality delivery of the Youth Programme and personal development as part of the lifelong learning process. This revised framework also includes the 3rd and 4th Wood Badge beads embedded back into the Framework. This makes the Framework a more complete document and reinforces the progression open to adults while allowing NSOs/NSAs discretion in how they implement or maintain these traditions in their training and adult development structures.Wood Badge CompetenciesThe Principles underpinning the Wood Badge Training Scheme suggests that the WB training programme should cover the development of the competencies in the following topic clusters: Scouting (fundamentals) essentials, Leadership and Team Management, Project Management, Communicating meaningfully, and Adult Development. In this 5x5 competencies proposal, every suggested topic should have a list of competencies developed through various training activities.
