Benchmarking Report on Volunteer Wellbeing
Volunteer wellbeing is becoming an essential part of how organisations support, protect and sustain the people who make their mission possible. This report benchmarks how six international organisations approach volunteer wellbeing through safeguarding, organisational culture, support, learning, recognition and duty of care. It identifies shared practices and ten key principles that can help strengthen a coherent and sustainable approach to adult wellbeing in Scouting. The findings highlight opportunities to connect Adults in Scouting and Safe from Harm more closely, moving from implicit care towards clearer organisational responsibility for wellbeing. Rather than proposing a single external model, the report offers practical lessons to help Scouting build on its existing strengths and create environments where adults feel safe, supported, valued and able to contribute sustainably.
