For NSOs, environmental sustainability is not only about delivering environmental education or organising community action. It is also about ensuring that the way we govern, lead and operate our organizations reflects the values we promote. Decisions related to strategy, resource allocation, procurement, travel, events, infrastructure and everyday operations all have environmental impacts.
An environmental sustainability commitment gives a National Scout Organization (NSO) direction. An action plan makes that commitment deliverable: it identifies the changes to make, who is responsible, when they will happen, what resources are needed and how the NSO will know it is making progress.
This report provides an overview of the World Scout Bureau’s climate impact journey – its methodology, initial findings, and ongoing efforts to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its operations.
