The Impact of Scouting and Guiding in Europe. Skills for life - a holistic solution
Over two million children and young people in 46 countries in Europe benefit from Scouting and Guiding educational programmes. Different studies show the positive impact Guiding and Scouting have on society.
Although the benefit of Guiding and Scouting is widely acknowledged, many Scout and Guide associations in Europe stated that it has become more difficult to attract external funds over the last three years.
This paper not only explains the impact Scouting and Guiding have on society and the current challenges around fundraising but also shares good practices of relationshsips of donors and Guide and Scout associations, highlighting the added value of increasing and adapted funding.
The paper has been written in partnership between the Europe Region of the World Association of Girl Guides nad Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the European Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and is based on a study undertaken by the two Regions in 2014.
